Traditional British Fare
Cathy and Giles are using all their experience in the catering trade to ensure that your visit to the Boot Inn will be as memorable as possible. Giles worked with both Nico Ladenis and Gary Rhodes in London, and they have run hotels and pubs together for the last 12 years; getting most of them into The Michelin Pub Guide and The Good Pub Guide, one even being awarded the Dining Pub of the Year award.

They believe that as a 'Real British Inn' they should be serving the best this country has to offer. So to go with beer from one of the country's leading independent regional brewers, Wadworth in Devizes, and a fine selection of wines, with many available by the glass, they aim to provide 'traditional British food', all homemade or locally sourced where possible. |
You won't find curry, chilli and lasagne or expensive gastro pub concoctions here but you will find traditional British dishes like potted shrimps, devilled kidneys on toast, smoked eel and soused herrings. Traditional pies like Gloucestershire squab pie, Shropshire fidget pie and beef and oyster pie. Braised meats like home salt brisket, rabbit casserole and oxtails and desserts like you used to get - apple crumble with custard, fruit fools, sticky toffee pudding, Knickerbocker glory and banana custard.
There is only a blackboard menu at the Boot Inn which changes every day to reflect the availability of seasonal and local produce. Traditional roasts are served every Sunday; vegetarians are well catered for, several choices are always on the board, and children are very welcome - we treat them like small adults and ask them to order smaller portions off the blackboard, but simpler food is always available.
